Pavement and asphalt will have proper markings telling you if the space is handicapped, permit-required, restricted, or reserved. Some restaurants will have 20-minute spots open in front of their business to let those pick up their take-out order. Other businesses will have 1-hour lots available to let their customers have a close place to park while shopping with them or to make their appointment. If you're planning a trip into a city, you may want to find where the free parking lots are to save money, especially if you plan on staying there all day. Rest areas usually won't charge for people to park, while other 24 hour parking lot structures may have machines in the entrance to give tickets to show a valet how much you owe when you leave. Most businesses that rely on consumer visits, such as retail stores, factor parking lots into their business plans, as adequate parking facilities are necessary to insure that customers will always have access to their offices or showrooms.
